PDFpen/Pro 8 Crashes On Launch

PDFpen and PDFpenPro 8 versions prior to 8.3.2 began crashing on launch at around 10am US Pacific time on February 16th.

Please download PDFpen/Pro 8.3.2 or later immediately to ensure you are able to use the application in the future.

Please accept our deepest apologies for disrupting your work. We resolved the issue as of 1pm US Pacific on February 16th. We hope that our acting quickly on this will allow you to maintain your faith and confidence in Smile.

Here's what happened. On February 16th, our developer signing certificate from Apple expired. Normally, this has no impact on software we've already shipped. We renew these certificates annually as a matter of course. This year, that certificate is attached to a profile which lets PDFpen sync your Library via iCloud. The moment our certificate expired, that profile became invalid and caused the app to crash. We did not expect this.

We've renewed our certificate and created a new profile. Our new certificate is valid for five years instead of one, so we do not expect this issue to recur.
